Greetings to everyone who has been patient during my absence. I apologize for not posting, but have not been ignoring everyone. I have been bombarded with a great many personal challenges the past two years. I spent the last couple years taking care of my Mom and from August 2016 until March 2017 I was a stay at home caregiver.
Providing 24 hour care requires strength and patience far beyond I ever considered, however, I was able to care for her and because of my attention, she was able to remain in the home until her passing. Since that time, I have been cleaning, donating, giving away and tossing so much the trash men hate to come up the alley and the group home organization I from which I retired has outfitted many of their residents.
Yet, after four months, I am only just beginning. Water in the basement (the sump pump went out) also forced me to start cleaning out the basement. I am 2/3rds completed in that project and about 1/2 in mom's room. I still have 2 closets, kitchen and living room to empty.
BUT...despite all that, and my not updating my blog, or attending book signings or speaking engagements...I did get some writing done. My new novella Tainted Blood will be out in August. It is a story of falling from grace, redemption, vengeance and a battle of good and evil. It has taken almost two years to edit and prepare the book for publishing.
I have also become associated with three individuals who have started an editing company, they call themselves "The Editeers" and although new in the business, the three have been editing works of others for several years. Look them up on Face Book. Sandy Maue writes / edits horror, dark fiction and science fiction. Destiny Fritz writes fictional humor / edits fiction, memoir and academic material, Jessica Meyer writes fiction / edit fiction and academic. I highly recommend these three people for detailed editing at a reasonable price.
I hope to update this blog more often as I find my way back into various writing circles. My immediate book signing will be at the Collinsville Library in Collinsville Illinois on July 22 from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm. I am hoping the new book will be available at that time.
I will sign off. Everyone have a safe July 4th holiday and a great summer....More to come very soon. ... John
