I
discovered an interesting marketing tool. It did not generate any immediate book
sales, however, my name was circulated throughout the community. I also sold
additional E-books which may have resulted from this experience.
One
of the local banks (National Bank of Highland) allowed me maintain a display in
the main lobby of the bank for an entire month.
I
changed my display three times during this period so it would be noticed by
customers who conduct business at that branch each week. I used two foot high science
board. It stood at the back of the table. On the board, I had artwork and a
paragraph or two from a particular story. Each week, I displayed three stories.
In addition, I promoted a multi writer book signing, gave away book marks and
promoted the local writing group The
Highland League of Writers.
When
my month ended, I autographed a copy of my book and gave it to the girl at the
bank who coordinated the event. I know almost everyone at the bank will read
the book instead of buying one, however, as the six tellers and two bank
officers talk about the book…good things may happen.
The
year is now ending. We all have new projects being developed. My advice is to
keep writing, after all, it is what we do!
