Best Laid Plans Can Go A Stray
This past weekend, the city of Carlyle was holding their first Harvest Festival. It was planned as a one day event. Sponsored by the city of Carlyle, the local library planned a Writers Book Signing for published authors in the area. There were approximately 20 people spending all or part of the day talking to people, autographing books and having a good time in general.
The weather in this part of Illinois has been wonderful; warm but not excessively hot, a nice breeze, sunny skies, however, on Saturday the clouds rolled in and the skies opened, rain fell for several hours. I was planning to leave the house and join the fun a few hours before my shift. My plan was to wander the park, enjoy the food, then settle down, set up my new book display and enjoy the company of other writers and meeting the people.
Unfortunately, before I could leave home, I receive a phone call…the event was cancelled. It just goes to show you that the weather can ruin the best laid plans for a Saturday in the park. The day was not a total loss, I spent an extra day at the computer writing. Always remember, be flexible and enjoy life.
