The "Nightmares of a Madman" Book Launch took place on Monday, 9.16.2013, despite a rocky start, it turned out to be a lot of fun. Imagine if you will driving up to the location for the launch and discover the Red Cross Blood Mobile sitting by the side of the building. When the Red Cross holds a blood drive, they take over the large training/conference room. This is where the book launch was scheduled. I decided that the smaller conference room next door could work, but discovered the Red Cross had stored all the baggage in the room.
After a short conversation with the Blood Drive supervisor, The Red Cross moved their boxes and supplies.
Set up was interesting, the smaller room is set up to seat 16 people, uncomfortably. I planned on 10 to 15 people arriving for the event.
I placed some of my display boards outside the room, had a table to set up my refreshments and took the corner of a table to set up books and free give-a-ways.
People began to arrive. The room filled after a total of 27 people arrived for the launch. Many staggered their arrival, some stopped by, listened to some of the readings, including mine, enjoyed the refreshments and left.
The launch was held as a part of the Highland Writers Group regular meeting. Visitors enjoyed a variety of writings from most of the members that attended.
It was a successful night.
